Casa Cielo 2nd Floor Studio.

This lock outstudio is situated within a private home, Casa Cielo, with a security gate at street level to ensure privacy and safety. Itis located just outside of downtown, offering the best of both worlds.....easy access to beaches and restaurants, but with the benefit of privacy and security.

This studio is quite small butwell designed for comfort and practicality. Although the interior space is limited, you will have private access to a detached front patio overlooking Cancun Bay. There is also an unfinished sectionwhere there is a full sizedrefrigerator/freezer (for longer term guests) as well as a BBQ, and small dining table and chairs.

You also have access to an amazing rooftop with palapa bar with swings. Enjoy 360 degree views of the island.

The studio is just outside of downtown, privacy, within a quick walk of everything! The entrance to the Malecon (sea wall) walkway is only a block from the house, giving you a wonderful walk into Centro! The garage is given priority to the guests in the main house, and has room for only one golf cart. If you do want to rent a golf cart, please speak with the owner to see if there will be house guests using the garage. There are, however, 2 lock down rings for bikes if you choose to rent them.

This studio is best suited for 1 person, however I have had many couples stay here. Be aware that the space is small, with adouble bed, with access on one side only (see pictures). Toilet area is very narrow which may be uncomfortable for some guests (see pictures). The Studio is on the second level of the house, so if stairs are difficulty for you, check out Studio 1.

Pets are best accommodated in the first floor studio with direct access to the garden. Request permission from owner if first floor studio is booked.Although the indoor space is very small, you will have access to the 2nd floor front patio, as well as the amazing rooftop with 360 degree views of the island!

Close enough to walk just about anywhere, but taxi's are an easy and inexpensive alternative, and there are buses running both directions every 20 min or less.

From the ferry terminal on Isla Mujeres, it is an easy walk... take a right and walk about 2 blocks past the Navy base. Turn Left when the road splits to take the Caribbean side. From this point, you will see Casa Cielo, a big blue house, on the Caribbean side. It currently had a large fish Mural painted on the front wall. The house is almost directly across from the car ferry. If you would rather take a taxi, there is a taxi stand to the left as you are exiting the ferry.

Once you reach the unit, you will enter through the security gate (code will be provided) and go up one flight of stairs. Turn to your right, and you will see another set of stairs. Take one more flight up and your studio is on the right. The lock box is to the left of the door (code will be provided)

Continue past your studio door and you will see the access to the front patio and area with BBQ and full sized refrigerator. Continue up the stairs another level and you will find the rooftop.

For info on getting from the airport and other helpful tips, see below....

Whether this is your first time on Isla Mujeres, or you’ve been before, this guide might provide you with a few tips or just suggestions to help you get settled on to the island.

Tips for the trip:

  1. Immigration at the airport is pretty easy! Just take the form the airline gave you on board and follow the crowd to the immigration line. Be sure to keep the tourist visa part with your passport during your trip and be ready to provide it when you leave. If you lose it, it just creates extra steps to leave the country and usually extra money.

  2. Once through immigration, if you have checked luggage you will go to pick that up, and then you will pass through Customs, where you will have to show the second form you filled out while on the plane. Here they will have you press a button that will hopefully turn green to go straight through. Randomly, it does turn red, and you must have your luggage searched.

  3. After you exit this area you will walk through sliding glass doors, and almost immediately be approached by people offering you hotel stays or transfers. If you arrange one ahead of time (which is recommended) it will probably save you money and a hassle.

  4. There are many ways to arrange to get from the airport to the ferry (30 minutes). Basically, you can book a shared shuttle service, such as Best Day or Happy Shuttle, or book a private transfer. Our favorites are “CARM” (Trina is the owner and they provide free transfers for people who volunteer to transport rescue dogs from our local rescue, Isla Animals, to their furever home!) or “At Your Service Cancun” (Felipe is the owner) Both services are very professional and reliable.

  5. Once at the ferry you will need to buy tickets, or if you arranged transport with CARM or AYSC, they will provide these tickets as part of your transfer package. The Ferry generally leaves every 30 minutes.

  6. Once on the island is probably the best time to exchange money or withdraw from the ATM. There is a money exchange just as you exit the ferry terminal to your right. HSBC ATM is directly across the street from the ferry. ATMs do get hacked, so if you choose to use them, take precautions such as having only a small amount of money in that account, and changing your PIN code directly after withdrawing money. Exchanging USD is safest however you sacrifice some in the exchange rate.

  7. Now that you are on the island, Casa Cielo is easy to get to! Many taxi drivers will know it by name, but if not, you can tell them it’s at the airport, and then that it is big and blue and the first house on the Navy airstrip just outside of town on the Caribbean side (it also has its name written on the porch).
